So often I wonder what your eyes are seeing,
what your heart is feeling.

Do your eyes see before you a beautiful creation,
so dream-like, yet so real?

Do you see before you a face so fragile
that your hand trembles as you reach to caress it?

Does your heart soar with the eagles in a sky
dazzling with the beauty of a thousand rainbows?

Does your spirit dance with the angels
during a tender kiss?
Does your soul rest in the knowledge of Love's infinity?

Does your mind wonder at the greatness, the mercy,
the grace of that love?

"...we are drifting in different streams of the world
our lives would be carried apart
and our love forgotten
but I'm not so foolish that I would hope
to buy your heart with gifts"

DREAM LAND Christina Rossetti

Where sunless rivers weep
Their waves into the deep,
She sleeps a charmed sleep:
Awake her not.
Led by a single star,
She came from very far
To seek where shadows are
Her pleasant lot.

She left the rosy morn,
She left the fields of corn,
For twilight cold and lorn
And water springs.
Through sleep, as through a veil,
She sees the sky look pale,
And hears the nightingale
That sadly sings.

Rest, rest, a perfect rest
Shed over brow and breast;
Her face is toward the west,
The purple land.
She cannot see the grain
Ripening on hill and plain;
She cannot feel the rain
Upon her hand.

Rest, rest, for evermore
Upon a mossy shore;
Rest, rest at the heart's core
Till time shall cease:
Sleep that no pain shall wake;
Night that no morn shall break
Till joy shall overtake
Her perfect peace.

Things That Never Die

The pure, the bright, the beautifulthat stirred our hearts in youth,The impulses to wordless prayer,The streams of love and truth,The longing after something lost,The spirit's longing cry,The striving after better hopes-These things can never die. The timid hand stretched forth to aidA brother in his need;A kindly word in grief's dark hourThat proves a friend indeed;The plea for mercy softly breathed,When justice threatens high,The sorrow of a contrite heart-These things shall never die.Let nothing pass, for every handMust find some work to do,Lose not a chance to waken love-Be firm and just and true.So shall a light that cannot fadeBeam on thee from on high,And angel voices say to thee-"These things shall never die.

Lord! when you sell a man a book you don't sell just twelve ounces of paper and ink and glue - you sell him a whole new life. Love and friendship and humour and ships at sea by night - there's all heaven and earth in a book, a real book. ~Christopher Morley

~ a deep ocean ~

Soft are the shadows in a deep ocean
So silently calm void of all motion
Holding the beauty of treasure below
To save from the tides gentle ebb and flow

Only a shimmer a glimmer or two
Will break the silence of cool turquoise blue
Until bitter storms fill grey angry skies
And ugliness spews as tides quickly rise

Meeting the frenzy in a sharp attack
Of electric skies that thunder and crack
Destroying the calm and shaking the core
Of serenity that once swept the shore

As fast as it rose, the stormy skies sleep
Yet nothings the same, in oceans so deep
