The Sea Spirit

by Lucy Maud Montgomery
I smile o'er the wrinkled blue
Lo! the sea is fair,
Smooth as the flow of a maiden's hair;
And the welkin's light shines through
Into mid-sea caverns of beryl hue,
And the little waves laugh and the mermaids sing,
And the sea is a beautiful, sinuous thing!

I scowl in sullen guise
The sea grows dark and dun,
The swift clouds hide the sun
But not the bale-light in my eyes,
And the frightened wind as it flies
Ruffles the billows with stormy wing,
And the sea is a terrible, treacherous thing!

When moonlight glimmers dim
I pass in the path of the mist,
Like a pale spirit by spirits kissed.
At dawn I chant my own weird hymn,
And I dabble my hair in the sunset's rim,
And I call to the dwellers along the shore
With a voice of gramarye evermore.

And if one for love of me
Gives to my call an ear,
I will woo him and hold him dear,
And teach him the way of the sea,
And my glamor shall ever over him be;
Though he wander afar in the cities of men
He will come at last to my arms again.

Luke & Natalie - Broken Tango

Just Tango

Her body moves like silk over me,
                                                               around and through me.

There is quiet conversation between
us no one will ever hear, the?sweetest words the world will ever know.?
Forbidden lyrics of our lives.

Words of longing, desperation, of lust and love, of?hate and desire...the words burning like?candles into our fingertips, into our shadows,?into our sweat, into our longing.
Our bodies melting into each other...
And we embrace.?
She dances as if to live,?and I dance to keep her alive.??Her leg slides naked to the air,
and then rests, waiting.
...and here I hold her, as if?floating, tenderly, closely, precisely careless.?
Our embrace. Our dance.?Our moment. Our urgent romance.
Speaking silently in closeness, our embrace of passion, ?of desire, our gaze, our conversation.?
No words...?
just tango.

The red rose whispers of passion,
And the white rose breathes of love;
O, the red rose is a falcon,
And the white rose is a dove.
But I send you a cream-white- rosebud
With a flush on its petal tips;
For the love that is purest and sweetest
Has a kiss of desire on the lips.

Never Ending Stairway

A never-ending stairway rises into waking clouds
Where questions spin intoxicatingly
No one sees the hidden mind
Climbing helplessly
Forever seeking answers
It cannot see

There are swirling voices whispering "Why"?
Floating spirits of constant "How"?
Guiding this quest internally
Yet no one sees the hidden mind
Climbing that stairway
Helplessly

Are there windows at the top of the stairs
Where a mind can find freedom
Perhaps look out and all answers see
To stop all these questions
From spinning around
Intoxicatingly

Heart of Being

A look was cast, so you and I could drink existence
From an overflowing cup of starry nights
Faintly quickening the pulse of our essence
Telling new beginnings
To take flight

They say nothingness and being, know not why they are
Yet they share in existence just the same
Does this mean one is full of wisdom, taking him so far
When asked, he cannot
Recall his name

Entwined in our existence are strong yearnings just to be
Determining where our gaze strays within
Making it possible to be, more than we ourselves can see
If we drink from this cup
Once again

A look was cast, so you and I could find the heart of being
We held on to in nothingness the same
Will you drink from the overflowing cup I am seeing
Gaze within and still recall
My name?

And then we'll dance the blues,
Dance the blues,
Dance the blues away
Tonight is yours and mine
Like old times,
Lets dance the blues away

Come on and dance with me baby, dancing my blues away
Yeah dance with me baby, dance 'til my blues can't stay
Come on and dance with me baby, dancing my blues away.
